Sammy Space
Milk bars with lolly counters where everything was 5 cents.
Video stores on Friday night. The smell of plastic cases and carpet.
Buying a Paddle Pop from the canteen with a crumpled dollar note.
The TV guide in the newspaper. Circling what you wanted to watch.
Getting dropped at the shops and told "I'll pick you up in two hours."
Phones attached to walls. Stretching the cord into your room for privacy.
The smell of a Datsun 120Y on a hot day.
Neighbours you actually knew. Who'd yell at you if you kicked a ball into their yard, then give you an icy pole anyway.
Service stations that actually serviced things.
Bank books. Passbooks. The little stamp that showed your balance.
Waiting. For anything. Without a screen to fill the gap.
I'm not saying it was better. But it was ours.
What would you add to this list? Just reply… I read everything.

Until next week,
